Camp Sites

Tips for Camping

 

  • Test your gear.

  • Research your campsite.

  • Check weather forecast before you go.

  • Read up on potential dangers.

  • Know your fire burn rate.

  • Practice fire safety.

  • Prepare camping menu.

  • Keep your campsite clean.

  • Use your tent rope for clothes line.

  • Use your compression bag for a sleeping pillow.

  • Make sure you have the proper insulation.

  • Let people know your trip route and destination.

  • Food for the evening meal on Departure Date (or eat before you leaving)

  • Items on your patrol leader's packing list

 

All Belongings should be packed IN the Scout's backpack.
Sleeping bags/pads should be packed in/or attached to Scout's backpack.

** Hiking Shoes/Boots are Mandatory on Campouts. Sneakers are not permitted

Aquapaug

Camp Aquapaug:  Directions to Camp Aquapaug

1620 Ministerial Rd, West Kingston, RI 02892

From Route 1 South, take Route 138 West passing by the University of Rhode Island on the right side.
Take a left onto Route 110 (Ministerial Road). Aquapaug is on the right side approximately 5 miles
South on Route 110.

From Route 95, take 138 East (Exit 3A). Take right onto Route 110 (Ministerial Road is the first signal
beyond the Route 2 rotary.) Camp Aquapaug is across from the Brook Farm Housing Development.

Buckhill

Camp Buckhill:  Directions to Camp Buckhill

422-432 Croff Rd, Pascoag, RI 02859

From Providence or Route 295, travel West on Route 44 to Chepachet, approximately 9.2 miles. Take a right turn onto Route 100 North and follow the signs to Zambarano Hospital. Continue through Pascoag on Route 100 until you see the State sign for Connecticut 12 (approximately 6.7 miles) then take a left onto Buck Hill Road.

Take the second left past the State Fire Watch Tower onto Wakefield Pond Road. Buck Hill is located at the end of Wakefield Pond Road.

Richard

Camp Richard:  Directions to Camp Richard

15 Lauri Dr, Charlestown, RI 02813

I-95 South; to EXIT 9 onto RI-4 South toward NORTH KINGSTOWN; to EXIT 5B onto TEN ROD RD aka RI-102 toward EXETER; turn LEFT onto RI-2 aka SOUTH COUNTY TRAIL ; continue on RI-2 about 13 miles and turn left onto LAURI DRIVE.  Take the first right (in front of a bank of mailboxes).  Travel straight.  The road goes just to the left of a white house (you may feel like you are driving into their driveway) and through a gate.  Continue on the single lane dirt road to the Camp Richard entrance gate.

Champlin

Camp Champlin:  Directions to Camp Champlin

223 Scituate Ave, Cranston, RI

I-195 West; Stay straight to go onto I-195 W/US-6 W/US-1 Alt S/US-44 W. Continue to follow I-195 W/US-6 W. Keep left to take I-195 W toward New York. I-195 W becomes I-95 S. Take the RI-10 exit, EXIT 16, toward Cranston. Merge onto RI-10 N toward RI-2/Reservoir Ave. Take the RI-2/Reservoir Ave exit, EXIT 3. Turn right onto Reservoir Ave/RI-2. Turn right onto Park Ave/RI-12. Continue to follow RI-12. Turn right onto Scituate Ave/RI-12. 223 Scituate Ave, Cranston, RI 02921-1839, 223 SCITUATE AVE is on the right

Camp Cachalot:  Directions to Camp Cachalot

Cachalot is located in the Myles Standish State Forest, Plymouth, MA

If coming from Boston/Plymouth direction use the MSSF (Myles Standish State Forest) East entrance off Long pond road and follow the MSSF signs for CAMP CACHALOT.

If coming from Fall River/Carver direction use the Cranberry Road entrance and follow the MSSF signs for CAMP CACHALOT. 

Please note: GPS is highly unreliable in the State Forest and you should always stay on approved roadways. 

Cachalot

Camp Yawgoog:  Directions to Camp Yawgoog

61 Camp Yawgoog Rd, Rockville, RI 02873

From Providence travel South on Route 95. Take Route 138 West (Exit 3B). Travel West through Hope Valley staying on Route 138 for approximately 1.3 miles. When you come to the Hope Valley-Wyoming Fire Station (to your left), you will turn right, which continues to be Route 138. Spring Street Market will be on your left as you make the turn. Travel on this road for approximately three miles and Camp Yawgoog
Entrance Sign will be on your left.
